The Festival buses or the festival livery applied to the RW reg CVGs was an attempt to brighten the Coventry CT livery. The whole of the top deck above the windows was painted ivory/cream as had one or two of the VWK batch as an experiment. The entire 1961 RW batch were painted in this way and remained so painted until the 1970 Marshal Red livery started being applied. The reason for the livery was to comemorate the consecration of the new Coventry cathedral in 1962.

For some reason 299 gained a maroon roof in the late 60's - does anyone know why?

I think the festival buses were the best looking CVG'S - when was the last white top repainted into Marshall Red? Thanks
