Better late than never. I was at Courthouse Green from 1955-1962 and remember Fred Batt very well teaching what is now called year 6 and Miss Ward. I remember Mrs Major as the infant school head and Miss Hasten as the Junior Head.
I lived in Heddle Grove which meant a short trip to/from school.
I suffered the indignity of being the first head boy in the history of the school to be sacked for singing the wrong words to the hymms in assembly.
I have no doubt whilst enforcing the discipline the teachers thought it funny and maybe innovative!

My lovely wife went to Courthouse Green and remembers Miss Haston as Head. Apparently the lady had a Bulldog which accompanied her around the school at that time (late sixties, early seventies)- the bulldog being slightly more friendly and better looking than Miss Haston. There are no fond memories of the Head - who, it seems was not a child friendly individual. I recall the 22 service 1979 - 81 - always full last bus Friday and Saturday nights and a safer option health wise than the 21...

My wife has just added that the back of the 22 bus was better looking than Miss Haston. Crcikey !
