Quite right too - can't imagine there are many people in Birmingham who know what the Coventry coat of arms looks like, so it probably stayed on good old 25 for a fair time......

Many years ago at the West Midlands Travel Club (formerly the Coventry Transport Club !) on the corner of Stoney Stanton Road and Cambridge Street, former Driver (and later Inspector !) "Graham Shaw" did a slide show there one evening and it was well attended by most of the local bus nuts ? Featured on one of the slides was KWK 25F, pictured on the 2 route to Radford and when Graham took the photo of it coming along Sandy Lane, he was standing high up on the embankment of the local park there (near to Caldecote Road) and it was when taking that photo, that Graham noticed that "25Y" still had its "CCT" coat of arms on it ! Why it was never noticed a lot sooner, that i can't tell you, but after April 1st,1974, it actually ran for about 6 or 7 months with it still on it and i'm 99.9% sure that Graham said he was the person who reported it to the relevant people responsible for it at "WMPTE" !!!

I've now got the front Number Plate off it, although it's in a pretty battered condition ? (caused by the Barnsley Tow Truck hooking the Bus up and also when later being shunted into place by the Machinery in the scrap yard itself ?).

292Y & 302Y were the 2 CVG's that ran Blue & Cream with CCT.
During the first 3 months of 1974 there were still several CVG's in the 'festival' livery that ran with the "Y" suffix, but I can't recall and have certainly never seen any photos of them with the 'WM' logo.
With the exception of course of 291 RW, that was a 'festival' CVG but didn't have a roof painted white or any other colour!
